DANDALEITH. AKA and see "Mrs. Gordon of Bellie's Reel [1]." Scottish, Strathspey. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCDEEF. Composed by William Marshall (1748-1833). Dandeleith, Scotland, was the site of a cottage built by Marshall called Newfield Cottage, to which he and his wife Jean retired in their later years. The structure was on the grounds of Dandaleith Farm, owned by John McInnes, husband of Marshall's daughter, Jane Marshall. According to Moyra Cowie (The Life and Times of William Marshall, 1999), Jane and John had a happy marriage, and Marshall was pleased with her choice of husband.
