PARSON IN BOOTS, THE. AKA – “The Parson in his Boots.” AKA and see "Bounce Upon Bess," "Come All You Good Fellows," “Irish Lilt (5),” "Kissing and Drinking (3)," "Larry O Lashem," “Mopsy's Tune (the Old Way), “Paddy's Dream,” "Paddy's Trip from Dublin," “Priest in his Boots (1).” “Rocking the Cradle (2),” "There Are Sounds of Mirth," "Tivoli (The)," "Welch Jig (2) (The)." English, Jig. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody appears under this title in the 1770 music manuscript collection of Northumbrian musician William Vickers, about whom, unfortunately, nothing is known. See note for “Annotation:Priest in his Boots (1) (The)” for extensive Irish history/titles. The jig also appears in a few English musicians' manuscripts of the 19th century (R. Harrison & William Clarke).
