WES MUIR'S TUNE. ALA - "New House was Built (The)." American, Reel. USA, Missouri. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. The tune is from the repertoire of Missouri fiddler Nile Wilson (1912-2008), and named for a contemporary of his fiddle-playing father, William Randolph "Dolph" Wilson, who lived around New Boston, Linn County, Missouri. Hollis Shumaker of La Plata (Adair County) gives an alternate title for this tune, "The New House was Built." Wes Muir tunes were also in the reportoire of Clark County, north Missouri, fiddler Delbert Spray (1923-2001), who learned them from his own father--“Mag Brown,” “Crippled Turkey,” and “Muir’s Hornpipe."
