DOODLEY DOODLEY DANK. Irish, Slip Jig. Ireland, County Donegal. G Major ('A' part) & D Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This melody has been a popular slip jig in County Donegal, associated with the areas of Teileann (Teelin) and Kilcar. Con Cassidy believed that it was Frank Cassidy (d. 1971) who gave the tune its title, which belongs to a nonsense verse sung to the first strain, often used as a lilting and lullaby tune. See also the related "Cock and the Hen (The)."
