I WON'T BE A NUN (Ni Mait Liom Beid Beanriagalta). AKA and see "The Officer On (of the) Guard," "Governor Taylor's March," "Napoleon Crossing the Alps [1]," "O'Sullivan the Great." Irish, March (4/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. The complete title is “I’ll Go and I’ll Marry and I Won’t be a Nun,” from a Victorian era song set to an older melody. As "The Letter that He Longed For Never Came", it was recorded by County Cork singer Elizabeth Cronin (1879-1956).
