MISTAKE [2], THE. English, Jig. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. The melody under this title is unique to Charles and Samuel Thompson’s Compleat Collection, vol. 3 (London, 1773). However, the entire tune appears in the 1840 music manuscript of multi-instrumentalist John Rook (Waverton, Cumbria) as "Light and Airy (5). See also Johnny Pringle's "Miss Maria Stewart’s Jig" which shares the same first strain.
