MISS KATTY TROTTER. Scottish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The composition is attributed to fiddler-composer Robert 'Red Rob' Macintosh (born c. 1745), who doubtless was awarded his nickname because of having red hair. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest printings of this tune in Neil Stewart's 1761 collection (p. 59) and Macintosh's own 1783 collection (p. 31). If the dates of the publications are correct as well as Macintosh's uncertain birth year, then he would have composed the reel while in his mid-teens.
