ROCKS OF BAWN. AKA and see "Amhrán Mhaínse." Irish, Slow Air and Song (3/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The song, which tells of a farm-laborer working the submarginal lands of the west coast of Ireland, was in the repertoire of piper Willie Clancy's aunt, Mary Haren of Clooneyogan. Various locales have been suggested as the setting of 'Bawn', but Tom Munnely noted there were eleven townlands in Ireland bearing the name, with none definitively identified as associated with the title.
