Tune properties and standard notation
DUNCAN'S TRIP TO THE COAL MINES (Cuairt Donnchaidh Do'n Mheinn Guail). Canadian, Strathspey. Canada, Cape Breton. A Major (Dunlay & Greenberg/MacDonald): A Mixolydian (Dunlay & Greenberg/Campbell). Standard or AEae tunings (fiddle). AB (Dunlay & Greenberg/Campbell): AA'B (Dunlay & Greenberg/MacDonald). The title presumably refers to the Cape Breton town of Mabou Coal Mines, or the actual mines themselves. Dunlay and Reich (1986) note that this tune resembles Nathanial Gow's B-Flat Major tune "Lady Elizabeth Lindsay's Strathspey," which appears in the Skye Collection
