MAYEN HOUSE. Scottish, Jig. G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer Biography:Alexander Walker (b. 1819). Mayen House is a Georgian villa in Rothiemay, Huntly, Aberdeenshire, built in 1788 by Major Alexander Duff. The estate lies in a bend of the River Deveron. In the mid-19th century Alexander Walker made improvements in the trees and grounds of Mayen, then owned by John Gordon, before moving on to his employment with Sir Charles Forbes at Castle Newe.
