ROLAND'S RETURN. Irish, Double Jig (6/8 time). D Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The first strain jig is a member of a tune family the includes "Humors of Castlelyons (The)," "Patrick Maloney's Favorite," and "Rambling Pitchfork (The)." Collector Frank Roche reproduced a nearly identical version of mid-19th uilleann piper, collector and cleric James Goodman's "Rambling Pitchford (The)," also set in D minor. Other versions of "Rambling Pitchfork" can be found in major mode, but with the same or similar melodic contour.
