ROUGH ROAD, THE (An Bóthar Garbh). AKA and see “Bellharbour Reel (2),” "Doocastle," "Fisherman's Farewell," "Joe Cooley's Reel (2)," "Mulhaire's Reel," “New Town Bridge,” "Newtown Bridge," "Reynold's Reel," "Sailor's Farewell (The)," "Sailor's Return (The)." Irish, Reel (whole or cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The Leitrim Ceili Band recorded the tune on a c. 1960 LP. The tune has been credited to Chris Droney, who called it “The Bellharbour Reel,” but it has also been credited to Paddy O'Brien and Raymond Roland.
