Book:The Hibernia Collection
The Hibernia Collection, issued by Elias Howe's (1820-1895) Boston-based publishing company in 1860, seems to have been an attempt to market to the large influx of Irish immigrants flooding the city in the years during and after the Great Famine. The author's name, 'Patrick O'Flannagan', is a pseudonym for Howe himself, just as his minstrel publications used the name 'Gumbo Chaff'.
