NUBBIN RIDGE [2]. American, Reel 0r Two-Step (cut time). G Major ("A" part) & C Major ("B" part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A reel in the repertoire of western North Carolina fiddlers Marcus Martin and Manco Sneed. It bears no relation to "Nubbin Ridge (1)." Martin was recorded for the Library of Congress playing the tune in Swannanoa, North Carolina, in 1942 by Artus Moser. The "Nubbin Ridge" cut that is on Field Recorder Collective FRC 502, "Marcus Martin" (2005), from Peter Hoover's field recordings is mistakenly labelled and is not Martin's "Nubbin Ridge" recorded by Moser in 1942. Kerry Blech identifies it as Martin's version of "Cousin Sally Brown" in AEae fiddle tuning, "which is very similar to the tune of that name ("Sally Brown Jig") that [southeastern Tennessee fiddler] Allen Sisson had recorded for Edison in 1925, but was unissued at that time. Edison has since issues it in mp3 form on the mp3.com site" [1]
