REEL LAFRENIÈRE. AKA and see " Jenny Lind (1)." "Reel du pont." Canadian, Reel (cut or 2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. The melody under the title "Reel Lafrenière" was recorded in 1937 by Montreal fiddler Joseph Allard (1873-1947) for Victor Records. A few years earlier, in 1934, he had recorded the same melody as "Reel du pont." Both are versions of the very popular mid-19th century polka "Jenny Lind (1)," composed and named for the famous "Swedish Nighingale."
