FEVER IN THE SOUTH. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Missouri. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. It is on Missouri fiddler Charlie Walden's list of '100 essential Missouri fiddle tunes'. "Fever in the South" is Vee Latty's reworking of "Sally Ann (1)." Walden called Latty "one of the Ancients", meaning a fiddler who taught the fiddlers that Walden himself learned from, and Walden himself had this tune from a home recording of Vee obtained from Latty's son, Wayne.
