EDMONTON FROLICK. English, Country Dance Tune and Jig (6/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was first published in London by John Walsh in his Compleat Country Dancing-Master 2nd Book (c. 1735 or 1740, No. 3), and a few years later by John Johnson in his Choice Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 3 (1740, p. 25). By 1776 the gentry had public assembly rooms in Edmonton, which adjoined the Angel inn at the corner of Fore and Silver streets and still existed in 1880. Edmonton is now a district in North London in the London Borough of Enfield.
