GIGUE/REEL DU VIOLONEUX. French-Canadian, Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. The jig is a derivative of the 19th century American song and jig "Captain Jinks." Fiddler Joseph Allard [1] [2] (1873-1947) recorded the tune in 1929 for the Victor label, but it was issued under the title "Le Reel du violoneux" (not 'gigue').
