The melody appears in the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork uilleann piper and Church of Ireland cleric James Goodman [1]. The first strain of "Hanley's" is cognate with the first strains of "Greencastle Hornpipe (The)" and "Mountain Hornpipe (3) (The)."
