McCABE'S REEL [2]. AKA and see "Paddy Taylor's Reel (1)." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune is generally credited to flute player Paddy Taylor (1914-1976), although some believe fiddler Martin Wynne may have composed it. Taylor was originally from Laughill, West Limerick, and emigrated to London in 1933. Also in Camden Town (London) at the time were Sligo fiddlers Joe Dowd and Martin Wynne (who later emigrated to the Bronx). All three were in Frank Lee's Céilí Band. Taylor, Dowd, Wynne, piper Leo Rowsome and pianist Leo Molloy recorded several selections at the HMV studios in Hampstead in March, 1939, but the sides (owing to wartime restrictions) were never released and are now lost. "Anderson's Reel (3)" is distantly similar.
