MR. CLARK'S FAVOURITE. Scottish, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. While the person of the title could be any "Mr. Clark," there was a musician-composer named John Clark who published a Collection of New Strathspey Reels & Country Dances in Perth in 1795, the year after McLaren issued his collection. Clark dedicated it to the Musical Society of Perth. Unfortunately, nothing is known about him. McLaren's "Miss Amelia Clark's Strathspey", also in McLaren's collection was perhaps a relation of Mr. Clark.
