MRS. LEITH OF GLENKINDY'S [1]. Scottish, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Walker (b. 1819). The estate of Glenkindie was in the hands of the Leith family for four hundred years, until the latter 20th century. At the time Walker composed his reel the laird was Alexander Leith of Freefield and Glenkindie (1817-1886), son of General Sir Alexander Leith 5th of Freefield and Glenkindie and Maria Thorp. He was an advocate and Justice of the Peace, and married Mary Anna Halkett (the "Mrs. Leith" of Walker's title), daughter of General Sir Alexander Halkett, in August, 1843. The couple had one daughter, Georgiana.
