TURNPIKE WAY, THE. Irish, Slip Jig (9/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The slip jig was entered into the mid-19th century music manuscript of County Cork Church of Ireland cleric and uilleann piper biography:James Goodman as "Turnpike Way", and as an untitled slip jig in Book 3 of the c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim piper and fiddler biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894).
