WAGONER HORNPIPE. AKA - "Wagoner's Hornpipe." American, Hornpipe. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. A popular Texas fiddle tune, often played for contests. It was recorded in the 78 RPM era by Texas fiddler Eck Robertson (1887-c. 1970's), The Red Headed Fiddler's (in 1930, in Dallas, Texas, for Brunswick records, although the side was never issued. The band was led by fiddler Albert Steely, b. 1871, Tallalaga County, Texas), and Smith's Garage Fiddle Band (in 1929, in San Antonio, Texas, for records, although the side was unissued. The band was led by fiddler Samuel Morgan Peacock, 1877-1932, Johnson County, Texas).
