The antiquarian Stenhouse said the air Burns used was “a lively old Scotch measure, called ‘<incipit title="load:salt" width=850 link="https://tunearch.org/wiki/Salt Fish and Dumplings">Salt Fish and Dumplings</incipit>’.”
