REEL DE PÂQUES. AKA and see "Reel à Manda." French-Canadian, Reel (cut and 3/2 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB' Soucy researcher Jean Duval finds "Reel de Pâques" to be a version of the blackface minstrel song "Climbing Up the Golden Stairs," composed in 1882 by F. Heiser. Soucy's own "Reel à Manda" is another, somewhat different, version of the same melody[1].
