STEPPING IN THE PARLOR. American, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Stepping in the Parlor" is from the playing of fiddler Alfred Bailey (1918-1996) of Flemingsburg, Fleming County, northeast Kentucky. Bailey said he had the tune from a local contemporary fiddler named Henry York (he also learned tunes from a Tom York, perhaps a brother or other relative, who worked on the Ohio River steamboats).

Alfred Bailey, Flemingsburg, Ky.
