COON DOG [4]. AKA and see "Thumping/Thumbing Bug." American, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was in the repertory of Anderson County, north-central Kentucky, fiddler Vincent Crawford, Mercer County, Ky., fiddler Cecil Thurman and others in their region, and coexisted with other "Coon Dog" named (but musically different) tunes. Elsewhere in Kentucky the tune was called "Thumping-" or "Thumbing Bug."
