JACKSON'S DAIRYMAID [1]. Irish, Reel (whole time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The melody, attributed to the 18th century gentleman piper Walker 'Piper' Jackson, of the townland of Lisdaun, parish of Ballingarry, Aughrim, County Limerick, appears in Patrick Gunn's c. 1860's manuscript collection (p. 38). Researchers Conor Ward and Fr. John Quinn find cognate versions as "Jackson's Hunt," from County Leitrim musician Alex Sutherland's early 20th century music manuscript collection, and "Spoil the Dance."
