TRIP TO THE LAKES. English, Scottish; Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC: AABBCC. "Trip to the Lakes" is a jig of unknown provenance. It was entered into an anonymous musician's manuscript, perhaps an individual from Yorkshire, around the turn of the 19th century. However, it does not appear in print (so far as has been discovered by this writer) until the early 1880's, when it was printed by both Elias Howe in the United States and James Kerr in Glasgow.
