AMAZON HORNPIPE. AKA and see "Norton's Favorite." American, Hornpipe (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A note in Ryan's Mammoth declares: "Can be used as a Clog." Paul de Grae identifies it as a version of O'Neill's "Spellan's Fiddle" (Music of Ireland, 1903, No. 616) and "Spring Garden (1) (The)," while Fr. John Quinn identifies Elias Howe's "Norton's Favorite" as a cognate. The beginning measures of the second part were incorporated into the beginning of the second part of O'Neill's "Star Hornpipe (1) (The)."
