MISS NANCY DONALDSON STEWART'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Miss Nancy Donaldson Stewart's Strathspey" was printed in biography:John Bowie's single-sheet issue entitled Six Favorite New Tunes, printed around the year 1789. It was composed "By a Lady," who wished to remain anonymous. However, Bowie may be giving a clue to her identity as his own composition, "Lady Mary Ann Murray's Delight", has pride of place as the first tune in the issue.

The first two measures (only) are cognate with the Irish reel "Maurice Downey's."
