CHARLIE MULVIHILL'S [2]. Irish, Reel (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Fr. John Quinn finds the tune a key of 'D' setting of "Garrett Barry's Reel," "itself a variant of "Miss McLeod's Reel (1)/Mrs. MacLeod of Raasay," and he points out that "O'Neill's "Grey Plover (The)" is another variation on this theme, and probably was Garret Barry's model." These tunes are distanced from one another, but similar in melodic contour and workings of the same melodic material.
