MISS ANNE CAMPBELL BALMARTIN'S REEL. Scottish, Reel (cut time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Miss Anne Campbell Balmartin's Reel" was printed by Islay fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Mackay without composer attribution in his Collection of Reels, Strathspeys and Slow Tunes (Glasgow, c. 1822). It was one of several tunes in the collection for members of the Campbell of Balmartin family; Anne was perhaps the namesake and daughter of Ann and Donald Campbell of the farming estate of Balmartin, central Islay. See note for "annotation:Mr. William Campbell Balmartin's Reel" for more on Balmartin and the Campbells.
