KISS THE LASS YE LIKE BEST [2]. AKA and see "Black Puddings," "Ruidhle na Maragan Dubh" (Reel of the Black Puddings). Scottish, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A different tune than MacDonald's (Skye) "Kiss the Lass Ye Like the Best (1)." The melody appears in the (James ) Gillespie Manuscript of Perth (1768), but John Glen (1891) finds the earliest printing of the tune in Robert Bremner's 1757 collection (p. 54). The melody has been recorded by a few Cape Breton fiddlers, including Cape Breton/Boston fiddler Bill Lamey (1914-1991). MacDonald's Athole Collection gives the tune under the title "Ruidhle na Maragan Dubh" (Reel of the Black Puddings).
