TURNPIKE REEL. AKA and see “Halfway House (The),” “Lardner's Reel (1).” Irish, American; Reel or Hornpipe. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. 2nd strain is similar to "Lardner's Reel (1)" and "Coming down from Denver" 1st strain similar to "Leviathan Hornpipe" and "Cowboys (2). " See also “Tommy Peoples' Reel (5).” Nigel Gatherer believes a part of the tune may be related to the Scots melody “Clean Peas Straw/Strae.”
