The two-part melody was first published in Glasgow by James Aird under the title "Miss Dawson's Whim." The first strain is shared with with the earlier English "Shepherd's Jigg," although the second strains differ.
Additional notes Source for notated version : - "Dunlap" [O'Neill]. Fiddler Micheal Dunlap was a member of the Irish Music Club in Chicago in the first decade of the 20th century. He is listed as the source for five tunes in O'Neill's Music of Ireland, although O'Neill has recorded nothing about him in his writings, save for the acknowledgment appended to each melody[1].
