Gaspé fiddler Édouard Richard (1934-2019)'s "Reel à quatre [3]" is ultimately derived from the song and dance tune "Keel Row (The)," from the north of England. There is a progression of Quebec variants of the tune and Richard's tune is one of the more distant. The "Keel Row" melody is more recognizable in Thomas Vaillincourt's (via Louis Boudreault) variant called "Galope du Lac St-Jean."
