DRUMMER [2], THE. AKA and see "Beggar Reel." Scottish, Reel (cut tume). The melody appears in David Young's Bodleian Manuscript (in the Bodleian Library, Oxford), inscribed "A Collection of the Newest Country Dances Performed in Scotland written at Edinburgh by D.A. Young, W.M. 1740." The tune can also be found in Young's earlier manuscript, the Drummond Castle Manuscript Part 2 (1734, No. 34) under the title "Beggar Reel."
