OVER THE MOOR TO MOGGY. AKA and see "Moggy on the Shore." Irish, Reel (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABB. "Over the Moor to Moggy" was entered into the late 19th/early 20th century music manuscript collections of Alex Sutherland of Toome, County Leitrim, and Terence Reilly (1868-1941), of Drumreilly, Co Leitrim. Fr. John Quinn finds a cognate version in Kerr's Merry Melodies vol. 4 (c. 1880's) under the title "Moggy on the Shore." Given the similar sounds of the words 'shore' and 'moor', it may be that one title arose as a miss-hearing of of the other title.
