SWALLOWS IN FLIGHT. AKA and see “Banks of Allan (The),” “Bog of Allen (3) (The),” “Tailor's Thimble (1) (The).” Irish, Double Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was miss-attributed on the "Smoky Chimney" recording as a composition of Gerry Harrington; it is actually the jig “Banks of Allan (The)” (albeit with parts reversed) a Scottish tune that can be found in Kerr’s collection. According to the group's guitarist Paul de Grae, it was an honest mistake after a long day’s recording, when a tune title eluded Mr. Harrington who thought he might have penned the melody.
