WIVES OF KILWINNON, THE. AKA - "Wives of Kilwinnin." AKA and see "Lads of Kilwining." Scottish, Reel and Country Dance Tune (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of this tune in print in Robert Bremner's 1768 2nd collection (p. 111). A very similar (but not identical) version of the reel was entered by Northumbrian musician William Vickers in his large 1770 music manuscript collection as "Lads of Kilwining."
