JERICHO. American, Air (cut time). USA, Arkansas. A Major. AEac# tuning (fiddle). Intro:AB (Sing Out): ABC (Beisswenger & McCann). "Jericho", an air masquerading as a reel, is a family tune from Arkansas fiddler and violin maker Violet Hensley and not found in general circulation in the Ozarks. There is a relationship between Hensley's "Jericho" and the Appalachian "Walls of Jericho (1)" AKA "Rye Whiskey (1)", although the former is in duple time and the latter in triple time. Both suggest decent from a common ancestor.
