Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Can be used as a Clog,” notes Ryan. "Star of the East" is the name for the tune in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883), likely obtained from the archives of Elias Howe (for whom William Bradbury Ryan was employed) who had earlier published it as "Star Hornpipe (3) (The)" in his 1000 Jigs and Reels (c. 1867).
