DEVIL IN A BUSH, THE. AKA and see "Colonel Wemys' Reel (2)," "England's Glory," "Kincaldrum," "Kurcaldrum's Reel," "May Day (5)," "Parson in the Suds." English, Scottish; Reel. England, Northumberland. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). The melody appears in the 1770-1772 music manuscripts of William Vickers, a Northumberland musician about whom little is known. The title seems to be idiosyncratic to Vickers, as the tune can be found in several Scottish collections as "Kincaldrum." See also the related "England's Glory."
