PADDY McFADDEN'S [1]. AKA and see "Donegal Boys," "Eileen Curran's (2)," "I Wish I Never Saw You," "John Roy Stewart (1)," "Magic Slipper (1) (The)," "Maude Millar (2)," “Montua (The),” “Morrison's Reel (2),” “Mrs. Smullen's," "My Love is Fair and Handsome (1).” Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Second strain is similar to the American old-time tune "Katy Hill (1)." The tune family (represented chiefly by “Maude Miller (2)”) appears to have derived from the Scottish strathspey “John Roy Stewart/Stuart.” The reel was printed in Ryan's Mammoth Collection of 1050 Reels and Jigs (Boston, 1883), but deleted for some reason when that volume metamorphosed into Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes (1940).
