"Shannon Waltz (1)" is a northern tune which found its way into the repertoire of the 1920's stringband the East Texas Serenaders whose fiddler, Daniel H. Williams, learned the tune from a northern fiddler of his acquaintance, one Mr. Brigsley. Williams employs position playing (2nd or 3rd) in the second strain for lushness of tone.
