"Dysart Volunteers March" was composed by biography:James Walker (1771-1840), a musician, fiddler-composer and music teacher of Dysart, Fife, Scotland. Walker dedicated his second collection to Lady St. Clair Erskine of Sinclair (née Harriet Bouverie), and his first collection to her spouse, wikipedia:James_St_Clair-Erskine,_2nd_Earl_of_Rosslyn (1762-1837), soldier, politician, and slave holder.
The Dysart Volunteers were a short-lived militia unit, like many, raised for local home defense in response to the need to free up regular army units for overseas duty during the late 18th century wars with France. The London Gazette of Tuesday, August 28, 1798, printed a War Office notice of changes to the officers of the Dysart Volunteers:
Captain James Reddie to be Major Commandant, vice Davidson, whn resigns.
First Lieutenant John Jameson to be Captain, vice Reddie.
Second Lieutenant George Rutherford to be First Lieutenant, vice Jameson.
