"New Christmas Eve [2]" can be found in the 1883 music manuscript collection of musician biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894), a piper and fiddler from Newpark, Bohey, Gortletteragh, south Co. Leitrim. Grier researchers Fr. John Quinn and Conor Ward link the tune with the "Roll Her in the Rushes (1)" tune family. Compare also with Rev. Luke Donnellan's "Jackson's Maid (3)", collected in the Oriel region, south Armagh.
