JOHN McKENNA'S [1]. AKA and see "Bird in the Cage," "Gardiner's Favourite (2)," "London Lasses (1)," "Maid in the Rushes (The)," "Streams in the Valley." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title stems from the September, 1928, recording in New York city by flute player John McKenna [1] and fiddler James Morrison, where the tune appears with the title "Streams in the Valley," in a medley with "Gardner's Favorite." An influential musician, McKenna's name became associated with the tune, and, since "Gardiner's Favorite" was listed first in the medley, that title as well became associated with the "Stream in the Valley" tune.
